Newly Released Kit for the Project 365 Year in Review Series: March: Lucky Clover

I just finished up a new kit for the store just in time for Saint Patrick's Day and I am working on Easter things believe it or not! (For once, I am ahead of the game!)

Here is the kit which you can purchase at my store over at Digi Style Designs. It is part of a Project 365 Year in Review Series which I started this year so you can use these kits to document those special 2012 memories. Many elements and a few of the papers have an Irish/St. Patrick's Day theme, but there are also pleanty of things included in this kit which can be used for a variety of other occasions as well! Here is my newest kit for March entitled Lucky Clover.

Included in this kit are 13 papers, 29 elements, 1 full alpha, punctuation and symbols.

Upcoming Blog Train and Designer Darling Status

Hi everyone

Well, I did not make it past Round 2 in the Designer Darling challenge which was the first design challenge I entered, but the good news is that I learned a lot in the short time which I was actually in the contest so I can apply that to all my new designs! Thanks for all those who supported me. I really appreciate it! (I would have liked to have made it further, but it just wasn't meant to be I guess.)

Since I had some free time, I will be designing a mini kit for the upcoming March Blog Train. Here is the color scheme which we were given....

Newly Released Kit - Year in Review: January (Candy Cane Lane)

How many out there in digi land are keeping to those Project 365 resolutions to take photos and/or create a layout? This year is the first year that I actually designed a Project 365 type series since I just started designing a short time ago. I am super excited about it too!

January is a time for new beginnings and this kit will certainly allow you to celebrate all of those special events (New Year’s celebrations, snow days, birthdays, etc.). The color scheme chosen came from a traditional winter favorite—the candy cane so some of the elements were designed around this tasty treat!

This kit is a part of a monthly 365 Project Series which can be mixed and matched for unlimited scrapping possibilities. I already know the color theme for each month (included in the kit is a preview of the colors that were used in designing the kit for each of the 12 months).

Here in the United States, we are experiencing a few of the last remaining nice days of fall. The weather has been warm during the days and we have had some exceptionally great weekends with a lot of sun! The story behind the Angels Among Us kit:

I am thankful for Angels Among us—you know, those rare individuals who are empathetic, sympathetic, caring, loving, giving, and compassionate! If you are lucky enough to meet one of these angels, you are truly blessed as I was this past weekend (October 15, 2011). Here is my story… (See the first reply thread for the story because it is a bit of a tale…)

My husband and I along with our two small children (ages 9 and 6) had to run some errands like we typically have to do during the weekends. My husband had to go to an electronics store so I told him that the kids and I would check out the local Dollar Store which was right next door. We went our separate ways and then met up again and proceeded to find a few items that we could give away as Halloween gifts to our neighbors (a.k.a., a Boo gift). After our purchase, my husband wanted to check out another store that sold household goods so we all walked over to that store. Before we even got to the door, my husband asked me if I had his car keys. I told him that I did not (he had driven). This is where our day took a turn for the worse because of course, we did not have a spare key to the car and we do not own a cell phone (one of the rare families not to have one I know) so we could not even contact anyone for help.

We ended up looking around the various three stores where the keys could have been and we looked in the parking lot and in the car but the keys were nowhere to be found. The car next to us asked us if we lost our keys and we told them that we had. (They basically just said they had a spare key to their car but it was in another state which in no way was helpful to us at all).

When we could not find our keys, my husband decided that we should just walk home and get the spare (home, by the way, is five miles away from the stores we were at). We were not really dressed for the hike but started off anyways with little other options. Well, we were doing fine until half way home, our six-year-old son said his feet hurt. I told my husband that he should go the remaining distance while the kids and I would stay put at a local convenience store (CVS). Our nine-year-old daughter wanted to go with dad but I put my foot down and told her that we would wait at the store until dad picked us up.

We knew it would be a while before my husband could get to us because he still had about 2.5 miles to go and he would have to find the keys and then drive my car to pick us up. I decided that it would be best to hang out in CVS for a while because the weather was cold, it was very windy, and I was the only person who had a coat. As many of you are probably aware, little kids cannot be contained in a store for much longer than 15 minutes without touching everything, pressing every Halloween decoration, and picking up every toy that they see. After I am sure we outlived our welcome, I decided to wait outside for a bit. Well, we found a ledge and all three of us huddled under my coat and proceeded to enjoy the trail mix which I hoped would satisfy my kid’s hunger for more than a half hour! We must have been sitting there for a good five-ten minutes when a lady approached us. She said that she knew it was cold outside and she thought that we might need something warm. She told us that she wanted to give us two blankets which she just purchased inside. (I could see that one blanket was purple—a girl’s color, and one was olive green—a boy’s color). She then said “Merry Christmas”. When she presented her gracious gift to us, I thanked her for her generosity but told her that we really did not need the blankets; we were waiting to be picked up by someone. She asked if I was sure, and I repeated that I was indeed sure. We spoke for a bit and then she left us to go to her car (blankets still in hand). About a minute later, my husband pulled up and I shared with him the story of this woman’s compassion and selfless act because she did not want anything in return other than helping others out. Now I share this story with you in hopes that 1) Maybe that woman is reading this and she can know that she is truly an angle among us and 2) Maybe we can all help others out even in the smallest way so the world can be a better place for all.

(P.S. I did not have a camera with me so I could not get a photo of this woman or her gift, but I did find a photo of yarn which represents the colors in the blankets which she offered to us.)

P.S.S. I actually designed the angel in this woman’s likeness because she had darker hair. Unfortunately, I never got her name but her act of kindness will certainly be remembered by me for a long time.

I almost forgot to share my Week 2's entry with you in the Designer Challenge over at Scrapping Fairy Tales. This kit is called Home is Where the Heart is.

For this challenge, we were given 3 colors to start with (orange, bright pink, and olive) and we had to come up with two other colors to coordinate with the original colors (I chose yellow and brown). We also had to design the kits around a specific theme for the color choice we selected and the theme I chose was Love. When I saw this word, I immediately thought of the one place where I have always felt love—home.

Where I live, the air is crisp and the leaves are falling from the trees--a sure sign that Fall is underway and winter is not too far off. The cooler temperatures and the beautiful colors are the inspiration for my latest kits...

Both kits were designed around the Project 365 theme with a focus on the Fall months. (Are you keeping up?) You can capture all of those memories which occur during the fall months with these kits full of rich fall-like colors. The elements are generic enough to complete any layout of fall festivities, Thanksgiving preparations, and other activities that occur during the months of September, October, and November. I am participating in my first ever design challenge over at Scrapping Fairytales. The challenge was to use a certain color scheme and to use a button in some way. Here is the kit which I designed:

Can you believe that it is October already? Once school starts, the days seem to just whiz by!

I am sure you have been enjoying all the fun contributions to this blog train. I myself just had to create something because those colors are just too fun! Also, we are all huge Scooby Doo fans in our house and we watch the movies, read the books, and as kids we used to watch the T.V. Shows too. For this kit, I focused on Scooby's love of food--especially Scooby Snacks! Most elements are versitile enough to work for any animal that eats out of a food dish but the bones will definately be a bonus for the dog lovers out there like myself!

Sneek Peek at STS October 2011 Blog Train

Who would have thought that I would be opening a digital scrapbooking store with Fairies but that is exactly what I have done! I designed these kits because my kids (ages 6 and 9) are really into fairies. We first discovered the magic of fairies when we looked for fairy doors in a neighboring city. After this, we were all hooked!!!! My kids began to make their own houses and I began to create these magical beings on the computer! Here are some previews of kits which are fairy related.

There is something magical about fairies whether it be the tooth fairy, a fairy godmother, or fairies in general so this kit was designed to capture that magic

Girls Just Want to Have Fun and so do fairies. Here is a kit to document some of those magical times spent with girls, daughters, kids, or fairies if you are a believer

If you want a fairy which depicts the hair color of you or someone you love, or if you just want fairies with different fashion color choices, here is the perfect choice for you!

I cannot forget about boys! This kit is dedicated to all those boys out there who are sweet, angelic, or interested in those woodland fairies and gnomes. The colors and elements are also generic enough to capture all of those exploring adventures or discoveries outside as well.

I used elements from these kits to design my blog header.

The kids and I just got back from a camping trip. We had so much fun doing the various activities such as fishing, hiking, geo caching, cooking over the campfire, and swimming. The downside--we are now itching like crazy because the mosquitoes were out in full force and they were hungry!

A while back I was inspired to enter a designing seminar for Divine Digital called "Pass the Pixel". We had to design items based on a color scheme. Here is this scheme:

There were 2 challenges but then health problems and life got in the way for the moderator so the challenge was stopped.

Well, I could not resist the colors and decided to make a bunch of mini kits with various themes. I will be uploading each kit each week for you to enjoy. Here is the first mini with a salmon focus called Swirl and Twirl. (I think I am on a pink kick lately but do not worry, those other colors from the above swatch will come in later.)

Happy Sunday.

We spent Saturday playing Monopoly (the real board game) this morning because it was a bit overcast. The kids (ages 6 and 9) were actually really into the buying and selling of everything and they wanted to play all day! We had a really great time!

A while back I mentioned a Cannoli cake that I had made. I finally got all my photos uploaded and found this masterpiece amongst the photos!

This cake was so delicious. It was a bit labor intensive but I would make it again in a heartbeat because it was so yummy! The flavor you ask? If you have ever tasted those Italian treats in a supermarket than this is about 5 notches up from that because the cannoli flavoring was chocolate and the frosting was cream cheese flavored!
